Goal-Kick Network

November 16, 2008

That’s right - we’re going to become a network…I can sense the confused faces already. I shall explain a little. Basically, it means if you’re going to start a new FM site, we can help you out. We can host you for free, and we might even go as far as setting up a wordpress. You’ll have a big community base at your hands and become part of our forums, all you have to do is focus on your site. Seems simple when you put it like that eh?

http://www.goal-kick.net/forums/index.php?showforum=77 - Head over here, and tell us about your site in the making, and we’ll see what we think. Alas, I’m afraid that would mean you’d have to register on oru forums, but not everything comes easy eh? ;)

The Scouting Network

September 26, 2008

The Goal Kick Network is happy to announce that joining the array of sites will be player focued website ‘The Scouting Network’. An idea coined by Levo which will explore the most important aspect of Football Manager, the players.

The site will mainly be concentrating on unearthing some of the rawest talent in the new Football Manager 2009 database and reviewing them for your benefit. A pledge has been made to have at least one new player review on the site each day. But on top of the player review expect player guides, articles and shortlists which will help enhance your gaming experience.

From the talent that is discovered from the game the hope is that we can also put together an extensive amount of databases for the fun of all. The site won’t be launced until the release of Football Manager 2009 but we would be grateful for any feedback or comments that you might wish to make.

The Goal-Kick Empire Expands

July 9, 2008

In a bid to expand the Goal-Kick network and continue our rise up on the scene, we have two exciting new sites to tell you about.

Levo’s popular ‘Life In FM’ blog has now moved homes and is hosted on Goal-Kick. It is a very interesting blog following his career on Football Manager, aswell as covering his various AI experiments and database tweaks. For a full introduction to the site, click here. You can find the blog at: lifeinfm.goal-kick.net

Aswell as this, we have a brilliant new site called FMScreenies to announce. It’s a pretty simple idea. We basically host your FM screenshots for you. It is very quick and easy to use, and you can then show your screenshots to friends, post them on the forums etc. Imagine an FM version of Imageshack, just much better. You can also view the public gallery to see other peoples screenshots. Check it out at: FMScreenies.com or fmscreenies.goal-kick.net

Downloads system installed

July 5, 2008

We’ve recently added a Downloads System on our forums, whilst still relatively empty at the moment there’s some absolute gems already uploaded including Skacel’s Dutch tactic, H’s badge logo’s and also some 180×180 rounded style manager pictures.

Feel free to add your own files or enjoy those already uploaded, the only thing stopping you using it is that you need a user account on our forums which takes less than 30 seconds to register for.

Click here to check out the downloads right now!!!

Staff Shakeup

June 12, 2008

As Goal-Kick continues to develop and progress, there are times when several staff changes are needed. Here is a brief update to make you aware of our updated staff team.

Firstly, Q steps down from his role as root admin due to other commitments. We thank Q for his hard work behind the scenes to help keep Goal-Kick alive and help the site on its way to its former glory. He’ll still be involved in the site a little behind the scenes, but won’t be seen as an active staff member.

There are two other admin departures to comment on; Dave will be slipping into a ‘Free role’. Not an active staff member, but able to view the staff room and input on site ideas. JC will be moving from his Admin role to Head of GFX in the build up to FM09.

Goal-Kick now has a three-headed administrator team, arguably our most ambitious to date. James, Wazzar and Skacel are the new head boys, and will oversee the running of the site from here on. James steps directly into Q’s old boots as root admin of the site, whilst Wazzar and Skacel bring their expertise in the running of the forum and FM related matters.

The GK and FMV Update

May 28, 2008

Goal-Kick and FM-View are delighted to announce a joint venture into the world of Football Manager Updates!

Members from both sites will be helping out through recommending changes, providing details of the latest movements in the world of football, informing us of mistakes on our part (although we hope that happens as little as possible!) and some will also be given the chance to Beta test the update.

The update will be released every Sunday on the 8.0.2 Patch and anyone can get involved with helping out. The update is bound to be a huge success due to the devotion of both sites’ member bases, and we hope you’ll all help to make it the best around.

Head on over to here to check out further details!

Current Game Blog Hosting

May 21, 2008

Football Manager current game threads on forums have become a very popular feature as of late, especially here on Goal-Kick. They provide a platform for you to show off your bargain or big name signings, unlikely victories and cup triumphs, without the hassle of writing a story to go with it.

We’ve been enjoying your current game threads so much that we would like to publish them on Goal-Kick.net! This gives you an opportunity to show off in front of a much larger audience than on forums, something you really shouldn’t turn down!

So how will it work? Well, once you’ve contacted us signalling your interest, and we have approved, we will set you up on our Wordpress system. We’ll give you a Contributor account, which basically enables you to write and edit your own posts only. However, you cannot publish them. This is an ideal system because it stops any potential abuse, whilst still allowing you the freedom to create your updates however you like. One of our staff team will then review the post, and, if approved, publish it to the mainsite.

New Mainsite Goes Live

May 19, 2008

Welcome to the brand spanking new Goal-Kick homepage. After quite a while of planning and designing, we are pleased to make it live for the public eye.

We are still using the Wordpress engine to power the site, for organization and ease of use, as well as providing a fresh and clean interface for the users.

As you may be aware, Goal-Kick has had a lot of criticism for it’s mainsite more recently, and we felt it was time to change that. I have no doubts that myself and Q have come up with a design that is sure to silence the critics.

On the new website, we will have 2 or 3 features on the left hand side. These will show the latest updates from the interesting projects we are working on at Goal-Kick. This includes the infamous Goal-Kick Panel, the all new Podcast, and in the near future, will also include a very interesting FM concept. In the centre of the page, you will see 3 containers. These pull the latest three posts from the designated categories. This way you are always kept up to date with the new articles in the most popular areas. On the right hand side you will find a new feature, the Goal Of The Month, put together by Trademark. You will also find the archives and recently added posts there.

What The Frig Is Going On?

July 16, 2007

Right, you might be asking yourself what the hell has happened to the site…and what is going to be happening. Well basically, we’ve been planning to switch over to Wordpress for a long while, with a completely new, customised design. However, the other day our hosting seemed to collapse, thus we lost our site. Luckily we had a backup of the database but we saw this as the perfect opportunity to switch to wordpress, rather than setting up Mambo all over again.  The design isn’t quite ready yet, so you’re stuck with this template for now, though hopefully it won’t be too long.

With regards to content, it’s all imported form the Mambo database, and most of it should be catergorised correctly.  The formatting seems a little erratic, but it’s mostly readable. If anything’s really bad just contact us and we’ll get it looking smooth ASAP.

Now, a lot of people will be wondering what happened to the forums. Well, basically they obviously also went when our hosts did, however we didn’t have a recent mySQL database backup. So it looks like we’re creating brand new ones, which should be with us in the next couple of weeks. We’re debating whether to put up an old archive or not…if you’d particularly like to see one or not, leave a comment on this post.

Just to fill you in on what’s happened and what will be happening. Much love,

Wazzar. xx
